SolarEdge App: half the panels are not producing

If the panel layout in the mySolarEdge app shows a large group of panels — often about half — at zero or very low while the rest produce normally, one string (a group of panels wired together) is likely offline.

First checks

  • Look for heavy shade, snow, or debris covering that section of the roof.
  • Check whether the app shows the panels as zero, or just grey (not reporting). Grey can be a communication issue rather than a production issue.
  • Try one safe restart (see KM-413) and check again after 15 minutes of sunshine.

Common causes

  • A damaged or disconnected wire or connector on the roof (often from critters, hail, or storm damage).
  • A failed power optimizer in that string.
  • A tripped fuse or input issue at the inverter.

Please do not go on the roof or open the inverter. These issues need a technician.
