SolarEdge Systems: App, Inverter, Optimizers, and Battery
SolarEdge systems use a central inverter paired with a power optimizer under every panel, monitored through the free mySolarEdge app. If your monitoring has stopped updating, your data plan likely needs renewing — you can do that directly with SolarEdge, and we can help with everything else.
Renew your SolarEdge data plan
Some SolarEdge inverters need an active data plan to keep sending production data to the monitoring app. If your app has stopped updating but your system is still producing, this is usually the reason.
Renew directly with SolarEdge here: solaredge.com/us/solaredge-data-plan-renewal. Have your inverter serial number ready — it is printed on the side of the inverter and also appears in the mySolarEdge app under your site settings.
The mySolarEdge app (iOS and Android)
The mySolarEdge app is the free companion app for your system, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. From your phone you can:
- See live and historical production, down to each individual panel.
- Track how much power your home is using versus sending to the grid.
- Get alerts if production drops or a panel stops reporting.
- View battery charge level and backup status if you have storage.
If the app shows stale data or your site has gone quiet, check your data plan status first, then give us a call or text at 806-454-7873 if it still is not reporting.
The inverter
The inverter is the heart of the system — it converts the DC power from your panels into the AC power your home uses. SolarEdge's design keeps the inverter simple by moving the panel-level work out to the optimizers, which means the inverter itself tends to be reliable and is mounted on a wall near your electric meter or in the garage.
Common inverter issues we get called out for include communication errors, ground faults after storms, and units that have simply reached the end of their service life. We diagnose and replace SolarEdge inverters across all of our Texas markets.
Power optimizers
Unlike a traditional string system, every panel in a SolarEdge array has a small device called a power optimizer mounted underneath it. Each optimizer conditions that panel's output individually, so shade, dirt, or a failure on one panel does not drag down the rest of the array.
Optimizers are also what make panel-level monitoring in the app possible. If one panel in your app shows zero while the others produce normally, that panel's optimizer is the first thing we check.
The SolarEdge battery
The SolarEdge Home Battery stores excess solar production so your home can use it at night or during a grid outage. Without a battery, a standard grid-tied system shuts off during an outage for safety — even while the sun is shining. With one, essential circuits keep running.
Batteries are especially popular with our Houston and Gulf Coast customers for hurricane season, and with West Texas customers who ride out storm outages. We can add a SolarEdge battery to an existing SolarEdge system or design one into a new install.
Need help with your SolarEdge system?
We service SolarEdge equipment whether or not we installed it — inverters, optimizers, batteries, monitoring issues, and removal and reinstallation for roof work. Call or text 806-454-7873 and tell us what your app is showing.
Common questions
How do I renew my SolarEdge data plan?
Renew directly through SolarEdge at solaredge.com/us/solaredge-data-plan-renewal. You will need your inverter serial number, which is on the side of the inverter or in the mySolarEdge app.
Is the SolarEdge app free?
The mySolarEdge app itself is free on iOS and Android. Some inverter models require an active data plan to keep reporting production to the app, which is what the data plan renewal covers.
What happens if my SolarEdge data plan lapses?
Your system keeps producing power, but monitoring data stops updating in the app until the plan is renewed. Renewing restores reporting — no site visit is usually needed.
Can Pure Solar service my SolarEdge system?
Yes. We service SolarEdge inverters, optimizers, and batteries across all of our Texas markets, even if another company installed the system. Call or text 806-454-7873.
